Tax season is officially underway, and we’re here to help make this year’s filing as smooth as possible. With the April 15 deadline approaching, now is the time to organize your documents and get them to your tax preparer if you have not done so already.

Make sure you have all your W-2s, 1099s (for freelance, interest, dividends, etc.), mortgage interest statements (1098), and records for deductions like charitable contributions, medical expenses, or business mileage. If you’re missing any forms, reach out to the issuer now, delays happen, but early follow-up helps. Please do not wait for habitual late arriving documents such as K-1’s and brokerage statements. Send these once you have them electronically.

Key Deadlines to Note

Estimated tax payments for Q1 2026 are typically due April 15 (along with your return), so plan ahead if you expect to owe.

If you need more time, we can file for an extension, but remember, extensions give you until October to file, not to pay any balance due.

If you haven’t sent us your information yet, please aim to do so by Monday, March 2 so we can prepare your return efficiently during this busy period. Doing so after this date may cause us to file an extension. You may drop off documents or upload them securely via our portal, whichever works best for you.

As always, we’re here to answer questions, provide guidance, or handle everything from start to finish. Don’t hesitate to call us at 804-559-4516 or reply to this email. Your peace of mind is our priority.
